Els Van De Water

Els Van de Water is a Human Resource business partner and leads the recruitment team for Microsoft in Italy. Els is responsible for the employer brand strategy of the Italian sub which is consistently ranked among the "Top 5 Preferred Companies to Work for" by new graduates and young professional and has consistently ranked in the Top 3 "Great Places to Work" award in Italy over the last 6 years. Els is Vice President and Co-founder of HR Community, an international knowledge community for human resources managers. Els has previous been the Human Resource Manager at LogicaCMG Italy and Human Resources Manager at Cisco Systems.



Heather Polivka
Director of Employer Branding at United Health Group
Heather Polivka has led the development of the United Health Group Employer Brand, from the methodology, through the research and discovery phase, to the creative execution. Most recently, she launched the company’s benchmark careers website as a key communication vehicle of the brand and is currently working to apply leading consumer marketing practices to United Health Group’s Employer Marketing and Talent Attraction strategy. Her passion for driving innovation, and her understanding of consumer behavior, was fueled by over ten years of product management with Target Corporation and as Managing Director of Product Marketing with Lenox Group, Inc. “At the end of the day, it is the authenticity and integrity of the brand that will determine the outcome.”


Birgitte Brix Andersen
Employer Brand Director, Vestas Wind Systems

Birgitte joined Vestas in May 2007 and is responsible for profiling Vestas as an employer globally with a main focus on Vestas’ nine main recruitment markets on three continents. Birgitte has a fact-based approach to Employer Branding, which is characterised by the extensive survey of approx. 10,000 respondents including 78 focus groups that was conducted as input to the global and local Employer Branding action plans in Vestas. Her main priorities are to secure a global approach to Employer Branding while still keeping the local relevance, as well as to continuously create synergies between Employer Branding, Communications and Marketing. Prior to Vestas Birgitte worked as an Employer Branding consultant with Universum.


Michael Holm
Employer Brand Manager, IBM
Michael joined IBM in December 2004 as part of the acquisition of Maersk Data – the second largest IT company in Denmark. At IBM, Michael is responsible for the employer branding activities in Denmark from the development of strategic goals to implementation and conversion into action plans and tangible projects. In collaboration with the communications, HR and university relations functions Michael strives to attract and retain the employees needed to secure their future growth.

Michael's professional background is in Human Resource with roles and responsibilities from Human Resource Consultant with hands on projects to strategic roles as Human Resource Partner with a focus on program development. Prior to joining IBM, Michael worked in the Danish Armed Forces with a focus on Leadership training and development.


René Herremans
Employer Branding Manager, Ahold
René joined Ahold in August 2007 and is responsible for profiling the employer brand of Ahold and their three retail labels. His focus includes the attraction and retention of talent across all levels of the business. René has developed a relationship approach to Employer Branding, not only focused on attracting employees but also on retaining them. His relationship approach is based on segmentation and individualization of target groups and employees and aims to provide long term added value for a company and its employees. René relationship approach has been published in his award winning book: Uw werknemer wordt klant. (Your employee becomes your customer). He also owns a website focused on Brand Relationships (www.merkrelaties.nl).

Prior to Ahold, René was employed by the Dutch Government as a Communication Consultant involved with major labour market campaigns in the Netherlands. René has also worked as a marketing and communication professional on several positions at agencies and advertisers.

Matthew Jeffrey, Global Director of Talent Brand, Electronic Arts
Matthew Jeffery is the Global Director of Talent Brand for Electronic Arts, the leading developer & publisher of interactive entertainment. Games produced include FIFA, Tiger Woods, Dante’s Inferno, Harry Potter, The Sims, Spore, GodFather, Dead Space, Need for Speed, Burnout, Hasbro Games, Pogo.com online gaming and Tetris on Mobile. He has more than 10 years recruitment experience and more than 5 years Marketing & Sales experience. Before heading up EA’s E-Brand, Matthew was the Head of European Studio Recruitment for EA, successfully building the foundations for EA’s growth throughout Europe. Matthew is well known for innovation in recruiting and for his passionate oratory and his fireworks presentation style. In the prestigious Recruiter Awards Matthew was voted ‘Recruitment Personality of the Year’.


Prenai Pillay
Talent Attraction Consultant ABSA

As ABSA's Talent Attraction Consultant Prenai's primary responsibility is to manage all aspects of the ABSA group's employer brand strategy, ensuring alignment with the Absa corporate brand resulting in talent attraction as well retention. Previous to joining ABSA she held the role of Sourcing Lead for Accenture South Africa. She executed this by ensuring that the recruitment team utilises the breath of sourcing channels creatively and cost effectively whilst maintaining a focus on candidate relationships. She has also led the graduate recruitment strategy for Accenture South Africa, ensuring that Accenture is seen as a great place to work amongst graduates. Prior to Accenture Prenai was the Talent Acquisition Lead for Microsoft South Africa. She holds an Honours degree in Industrial Psychology. She shares a passion for people development, employer branding & recruitment marketing and is currently furthering her studies in this field.

With a B.A. in Corporate Communications and a M.A. in Publication Design from the University of Baltimore, Kerry has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in Marketing and Communications. She is experienced in developing and strengthening corporate brand identities and has managed brands for a variety of organizations. She specializes in integrating these practices into strategic marketing plans. In November 2007, Kerry added recruitment marketing and employment branding to her profile when she joined Sodexo's Talent Acquisition Group as a Marketing Communications Manager. In this fast paced digitally connected era of email, blogs, Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and more the ability to connect with a company goes beyond the "About Us" section on a website. Sodexo, like many companies, has embraced social media because it’s becoming one of the most popular forms of communication among all generations and it allows them to take an active role in their online presence and build personal relationships with candidates and employees. Kerry has the privilege of working with a team of recruiting professionals who are committed to finding the best qualified candidates and who are open to learning new ways to recruit Sodexo's future employees. Through Social Media Marketing Sodexo's Talent Acquisition team set out to create positive experiences for their candidates, which in turn strengthened their employment brand. Fabio Dioguardi
HR Director Ferrero

Fabio Dioguardi is the Human Resource and Organizational Director at Ferrero Italy where he began his career in 1988. Following commercial experience in Italy, Fabio began an international career in Human Resources as Head of Staff in various companies of the Ferrero Group.

Fabio has held senior positions within Ferrero including Human Resource Director, Ferrero Holding in Lussemburgo and Human Resource Organizational Director in France before he joined Ferrero Italy. Fabio’s challenges of today are mainly focused in the development of the Human Resource function to support the organisation’s business objectives and strategies. In this role Fabio plays an important role in the definition and development of Ferrero’s employer branding strategy.

Kellie Tomney

Kellie Tomney developed the St.George Employer Brand and various market leading initiatives to ensure St.George lead the market in talent attraction and acquisition. She also leads the Award winning onsite recruitment team for the Bank. Kellie has always had a passion for people and brands and has worked with great organisational brands across different industries. She started her career with Lion Nathan where she progressed through generalist, specialist and business partner roles and was very much part of the significant cultural transformation that they achieved. After a change of industry and a new challenge, she then took up the role of People Change Manager to set up Shared Services in Qantas Airways Limited, which is still in place today.


Linda Halse

Linda has been actively involved in the human resource profession for the past 20 years. Commencing her career as an accredited Mediator in South Africa and then later as Human Resource Manager for a company of more than 22,000 employees. Since moving to Australia, Linda has worked in senior management roles in Local Government, Education, Aged Care and now at the word renowned Australian Wine Research Institute.

Linda has strategic and tactical Human Resources knowledge and extensive experience in the Industrial/Employee relations field, presenting at the Australian Industrial Relations commission over 30 times. For the past 5 years Linda has been in a senior leadership role focused on Organisational Development, Change Management, Leadership Development, Professional Development and Talent Retention. In 2008, Linda was recognised as the Australian Human Resources Institute SA finalist in the categories of Human Resource Leader of the year and Human Resource Impact – Most effective Human Resource Department.
